North Carolina Small-College Football Has a Home
Small-College Saturdays is a newsletter and Substack community for fans, families, alumni, coaches and followers of North Carolina’s FCS, Division II and Division III college football programs.
The goal is simple: more conversation, more context and more consistent attention for the teams that don’t always get covered elsewhere.
My name is Eric Lusk, and I’ve been a college football fan since my parents took me to my first NC State game when I was 4.
I created NC Football News in 2023, and it didn’t take long to discover that much of North Carolina’s college football landscape is underserved by traditional media — particularly the schools competing at the FCS, Division II and Division III levels.
Great football is being played at places like Western Carolina, North Carolina Central, Elon, Wingate, Brevard and beyond. Small-College Saturdays exists for those programs and for the people — like you! — who care about them.
Free subscribers to Small-College Saturdays will get:
The Weekly Huddle
A midweek issue with quick hitters, links, notes, storylines and one bigger takeaway from North Carolina’s FCS, Division II and Division III football scene.
Paid subscribers to Small-College Saturdays will get:
The Deeper Read
Paid subscribers will receive at least one additional issue each week with deeper analysis, reporter notes, team context, weekend previews, Monday reactions, media day notebooks, recruiting updates, playoff race coverage and mailbag/chat opportunities.
Put simply:
Free keeps you in the loop. Paid helps you understand the season.
If you care about FCS, D2 and D3 football in North Carolina, a paid subscription is one way to help build the deeper, more consistent coverage these programs deserve.
